A Novel and Validated UV-Spectrophometric Method for Estimation of Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride in Tablets

Vandana Vandana, Alok Chaudhary

Abstract

An economic, new and simple UV spectrophotometric method having good sensitivity in terms of linearity, precision and accuracy was developed for the routine estimation of moxifloxacin hydrochloride in the tablets available commercially.  It was validated for various parameters according to ICH and USP guidelines. Moxifloxacin hydrochloride was estimated at 294 nm in deionized water with linearity range of 0.6 – 9.96 mg ml-1, molar absorptivity of 4.3166 × 104 L mol-1cm-1  and with regression equation: Absorbance = 0.0993 × Concentration mg ml-1 + 0.0012 (R2 = 0.9998).
